Point of view, break that simple phrase down. Point is a location or a vantage point and view is what you see. Connecting these two word concepts you can quickly decipher this to be a unique experience.
In the physical world we can view and experience anything we look at with focused attention. As children we quickly assimilate our connection to the physical world we see. We recognize our own environment, our parents and our surroundings. We identify with what we discover in our physical world and build an internal profile to reference our own reality.
This starts with assimilating our language, which is simply a combination of sounds that we learn to mimic and interpret through observation. We learn to use this mastered physical skill set of speech to discover and explore a deeper more meaningful life. We use this as a method of connection with others who share our environment.
Words and language were the birth of spiritual connection among humans. Through oral traditions and storytelling we were able to share and transfer tremendous amounts of deeper understandings. Those oral teaches in human societies were elevated to great importance as they directly influenced the life and success of individuals within the community. Over time written languages were developed to secure the wisdom of a society for future generations.
INFORMATION OVERLOAD
Through thousands of years of human history multiple groups and societies would grow and compete. The weaker civilizations were overthrown or outworked. The better thinkers and builders fought for their dominance and survival. They have grown to occupy and cover the entire planet.
Humans after all are a part of nature; directly connected to the earth for survival. Just as plants and animals seek to survive and thrive so do humans. We grow by leveraging the biological elements connected to this ecosystem. Humans follow this same organic programming to expand and grow.
This starts at the individual level to dominate ones environment through competition. It then extends out to include our family, our community, our city, our tribe, our nation. We have mastered our domination of this planet to such an immense degree that our own extinction seems inevitable if we remain committed to our animalistic instincts.
The change we need to discover and dominate is our spiritual make-up. This requires honest unbiased evaluation of everything. This cannot be accomplished from our animalistic nature. It must be discovered and pursued in the spiritual space. This begins at the individual level of exploration – the spiritual quest
DISCOVER YOUR WISDOM CONNECTION
Every person on this planet has a distinct set of opinions and sees life from a unique vantage point. There is a common saying, “The only thing in this world you can control or change is you.” What about the validity of our own point of view, can we change that? This is the call of the spiritual quest.
Changes in our life and in our opinions are rungs on the spiritual ladder. The higher we climb on the spiritual ladder the more change we experience. The higher we climb the greater control we seem to gain in understanding our own life and our connection to the rest of the world.
Our environment dictates how we grow. The more diverse the environment we encounter the greater perception we attain. To maximize our growth in the spiritual space we must embrace others who have opposing or different views from your own. Other people and their opinions are a treasure chest of spiritual discovery for those on the spiritual quest. Remember on the spiritual quest you are all alone on your journey of discovery. Don’t miss out on this most important area of exploration.
CLIMB THE RUNGS OF CHANGE
When we have the chance to meet and interact with a person who sees the world differently than we do, we should jump at the opportunity to explore their unique sophisticated conclusions. This presents an amazing opportunity to change and expand our own point of view. Exploring other points of view always changes and enhances our own perceptions.
A person with completely different life conclusions than your own is like finding some ancient spiritual manual, written by a human sage with amazing insights to share. Imagine the treasures to be found listening to a person who has spent countless hours exploring reality and defining their discovery. If we found such an ancient manual we would read with intensity and concentration to explore and understand such a unique point of view.
Now imagine if that human sage were able to communicate in a conversation with you? What would such a conversation be like? It would be amazing and very spiritually satisfying to interview such a person. The discoveries that such a conversation could reveal would certainly help to change and enhance your own point of view.
YOUR PERSONAL SPIRITUAL GURU IS YOU
In fact every conversation that you have with another human being is exploring your own spiritual space. Think of everything you can learn from such interactions with others. If you had a miraculous ability to perform a Vulcan Mind Probe like the character Spock from the TV series Star Trek. This was Hollywood magic. When Spock completed his mind-merge he would understand everything the other person did.
Communication is a magical tool and an insider secret available to you on your spiritual quest. This presents a unique and powerful area for growth, but only if you can learn to discipline yourself. You can actually take control of the conversations you engage in; if you discipline yourself to manage the way you interact with people who have a different point of view. It’s especially difficult with those who exhibit feelings different from your own. This is hard work to master, but every rung you climb on your spiritual quest ladder puts you in greater control of the spiritual discovery.
There is nothing new to discover that is likely to meet your exact understanding. There are so many people in the world, all of whom have their own unique points of view. All these views will be entirely justifiable and believed as true and understandable to those who share them. Can you tap into this wisdom of fellow citizens?
In your spiritual discovery another person’s point of view may seem unorthodox. Do not conclude that their points of view or opinion is wrong in any way. You will want to openly accept it as full truth from their perspective. The only wrong thing in your discovery would be to reject that point of view because it conflicts with your own. Embrace those ideas that contradict your understanding these are the pearls of wisdom that most people reject. Please don’t be that foolish, grab these ideas with wonderment and acceptance as you climb the mountain of spiritual discovery.
YOUR SPIRITUAL TOUR GUIDES ADVICE
If we return to our example of exploring the woods and forest, would we reject another explorer’s experiences just because it didn’t match our own? Sure each explorer might add exaggeration and a little personal flare to interest others. If we were to reject their views as out-right nonsense or fabricated lies how likely would they be to share their discoveries at all?
When it comes right down to it, there is no fixed reality or universal point of view about the physical discoveries contained in the woods and forests. Despite having been intensely explored and studied in depth for many centuries, we have yet to stop the wonder and joy of such an exploration. If we can remain curious and open we can still learn something new. Perhaps even from a small child that explains their first experience of discovery in the woods.
There are no hard and fast rules for how people must think or function in the world. One thing we do know for sure is that we are all similar with our human body functions. We all have the same five senses we use to explore our world. Our experiences determine the conclusions we derive and they are always valid from our own limited point of view.
Despite our attainment in discovery from exploring nature in the woods, or from reading books written by those who have taken on such an exploration, we certainly would never say that another discovery is impossible. We are probably pretty confident that there are many things in our physical world that are still yet to be discovered.
HOW CAN I BETTER MY COMMUNICATION
How does this apply to our relationships with others when discussing the internal spiritual experiences we encounter? Remember that whenever you engage with another person in conversation, it is highly likely that an honest inquiry will result in an honest reply. In our spiritual quest every inquiry and every discovery you make is undiscoverable to another person. Every person is unique in their discovery remember we are all alone on our spiritual path.
Since our personal internal spiritual experiences are all completely unique how can we learn through our interactions with others? The very limited control we have at all in the universe is control over ourselves. Here is where the spiritual discovery can explode for you. As you interact with others you get to explore and learn from their experience. You get to connect with another person and get to discover their unique point of view. If you’re curious and open you can listen and learn something totally new.
It requires a tremendous amount of energy to extract spiritual information from another. This is very tricky because people are afraid to share their deepest discoveries. Either out of fear, or they are spiritually immature and unsure of their own conclusions.
Just like an exploration in the forest you need to be quiet and highly observant not to disturb the object of your attention or the discovery is over.
PROTECT YOURSELF FROM YOU
The weakest part of you in this exploration is your powerful ego wanting to control the narrative. You’re the experienced guru who has made such amazing spiritual progress that you believe your own point of view to be accurate. Do not allow this delusion to interfere with your concentration because it will certainly pollute your discovery. Do not negate or criticize what another person is sharing. Keep listening intently never interrupt or you break their flow and the connection between you suffers.
If the sharing stops simply repeat the last phrase you heard in a question format and the flow of wisdom is likely to continue. Accept everything you hear with a hug of appreciation, no matter how unreal or unbelievable it may seem to you. Once you believe your own conclusions are the only answers you shut yourself off from further spiritual growth.
Think about it! What someone might consider as entirely normal in life you may find it utterly unimaginable from your own point of view. For example, imagine discouraging human mothers from using their own breast milk to feed their children? Instead they use cow’s milk to feed their human babies? As unimaginable as this situation may appear to the rational mind, it is exactly the way many fellow human beings experience their world.
By rejecting what we find repulsive or what we do not understand we disconnect from a growth opportunity with a fellow human citizen who accepts their own point of view as worthy of sharing. Don’t burn down the bridge with conflict; instead build a bridge of connection through reaching a common understanding. You can only find that place of expansion within your own perceptions. You cannot change or control anything other than you, so be willing to expand and enrich your own comprehension by accepting what is offered to you by others.
No matter what is happening in life, everyone is directly connected to their own point of view. This is intrinsically tied to their personal experiences, which creates a framework upon which their perception of reality is built. They are rigidly tied and connected to this point of view so tightly that it is very difficult to grow beyond our own limited perspective. Accept the fact that others are intrinsically attached to their own mind, and they are entitled to hold tight to their perceptions, no one can tell them how to live or act.
This spiritually sensitive information offers you an inside look at yourself. It requires a deliberate willingness to explore and discover beyond your own limited point of view. Take this opportunity to analyze your own limiting beliefs it requires deep inner scrutiny to discover your true self.
Be willing to adopt and embrace a contrasting narrative to your own. Try one on and see how it feels, try on another one too and you will discover the amazing growth potential you harness in your own spiritual quest.
